Basic Bean or Holiday Bean Soup Mix 16 oz.. Package

Ingredients: Green & yellow split peas, lentils, pearled barley, BEANS: red kidney, baby & Large lima, blackeye, great northern, pinto & black turtle.

Directions:  Wash 1 Lb. beans, place in large kettle, cover with water 2" above bean line.  Add 2 tablespoons salt, soak overnight.  Drain in the morning.  Add 2 quarts water, 2 ham hocks or piece of ham.  Bring to a boil, add 1 large onion, 1-16 oz. can tomatoes, 1 teaspoon chili powder, juice of a lemon & pepper to taste.  Simmer 3 hours or in crock pot: 3 hours on high or 5 hours on low.  Remove ham from hock before serving. Makes 4 quarts.
