Orange Peel Granules or Powder

This is the dehydrated version of what is known as the zest of the orange, the outer skin of the fruit without the pith or white part.  This is the part of the fruit which is highest in oil.  If you have ever zested your own oranges, you know how time consuming it can be, once you have tried this dehydrated version and taste for yourself, you will probably continue to use it as one more time saving device.  The dehydrated orange peel is three times as strong as the fresh peel, so if you are adding the zest to a liquid, use 1/3 of what your recipe calls for. (example 1 Tablespoon fresh zest, use 1 teaspoon dehydrated)  Granules are preferred for muffins & cookies, while powder is preferred for cheesecakes.
